TechCrunch Disrupt Women In Tech Panel

In case you've been living under a rock, it may come as some surprise that there's a whole lotta shaking going on over at TechCrunch the past week.

The tech industry giant may be parting ways from their founder, Michael Arrington, due to some shady business over a finance group called CrunchFund and TechCrunch owner AOL.

Despite all the blustering, this week's TechCrunch Disrupt is under way. In honor of the possible demise of the blog's editorial integrity I thought I'd share the train wreck that was the Women In Tech panel from last year's TechCrunch Disrupt.

If you think it's going to be all rainbows and butterflies, think again. These ladies have a wide range of opinions about the roles of women in tech, where to go from here, and what the actual issue is.

The entire discussion with nice clear audio is available here.

There's also a fabulous commentary on the panel and a transcript of the event here from panelist Rachel Sklar founder of Change The Ratio and journalist at large with her finger in many Huffington Post pies.

I think this panel was a huge disapointment, but it was one of the first times TC even tried shedding some well deserved light on the issue of women's representation in the technology field.

What do you think?

Chick Tech Manifesto

You may be asking yourself, what is Chick Tech? If so, you’ve come to the right place to learn about our fresh approach to all things tech.

Here at Chick Tech we believe in giving women a strong voice in the tech industry. Patronizing tech snoobs can hit the road. After all, studies suggest that today’s latest gadgets are ending up in the hands of women more often than men.

So whether you’re a power mom looking for the latest app to help make sense of your hectic life, a professional with exceptional taste for all things techie or just one bad mamma jamma who wants to get the most out of your gadget-filled existence, you’ve come to the right place.

Chick Tech isn’t just a blog sporting all the latest tech trends or an insightful spot to learn about the best new products, apps and tools (although we do all that here too...).

It’s a place where being a woman is celebrated through technology.

Make yourself at home. Feel free to leave irreverent comments, suggest coverage and stories, and let your hair down.
